Athletes show mettle at cross country championships

Months of training paid off when Matthew Flinders Anglican College athletes took to the cross country course at the Primary and Secondary Sunshine Coast Regional Championships held in June.
At the Secondary competition, the Flinders girls team finished first, the boys team finished third and the Flinders squad placed overall second behind Mountain Creek State High School.
A number of athletes have qualified for the State Championships.
At the Primary Schools Regional Cross Country, seven Flinders students competed. This is a tough competition with the 40 best runners from north of Brisbane to Noosa competing.
The Flinders students ran well and the Independent Schools District was successful in winning the carnival.
Top placings went to Grace Kaihau, 1st, 11 yrs girls; Lilli Burdon, 1st, 12 yrs girls; and Rory Bown, 6th, 12 yrs boys. The State Championships will be held in Brisbane in Term 3.
