Past and present staff gather to celebrate 20th year
(posted 12.06.09)
Matthew Flinders Anglican College’s year-long celebration of its 20th year of operation was a wonderful excuse for a get-together of Flinders staff, past and present, on Sunday, June 7.
This reunion followed the annual 10-year reunion of graduates (Class of '99) held each Queen’s Birthday long weekend.
Founding principal Stephen Matthew, second from right, travelled from Adelaide and many others took the opportunity to have a short break on the Coast, catch up with old friends and tour some of the recently completed facilities around the College, including the multi-purpose Sports Centre.
Chairman of College Council Mr John Gardiner and Principal Anthony Vincent, third from right, spoke to the 170 guests about the impressive achievements made during the College’s relatively short history, and thanked teachers, administrators and support staff, who have all contributed so much to building a first-class educational community.
While the adults chatted, laughed and caught up on life stories, members of the next generation of Flinderians were running around and having a great time. The afternoon had turned into twilight before the last goodbyes were said.
Thanks go to Heather Spring, Gerry Price, Bruce Winther, Ian
Hopkins and Donna Surch, who coordinated the guest list, Sue Vajda for the photos, and to Gina Mazarakis and her P&F team who organised the delicious luncheon.
