(posted 29.07.10)
Flinders' regional cross country runners enjoyed great success at the State Championships held in July at St Paul’s College in Brisbane.
Primary results
Grace Kaihau (Yr 5), Erica Hungerford (Yr 7) and Lilli Burdon (Yr 7) competed in the Primary Championships.
All three ran extremely well with Lilli finishing 10th in the 12yrs girls and Erica 14th. Grace, pictured, ran an outstanding race in the 11yrs age group and finished in first place with a very fast time.
Grace was also a member of the winning Qld relay team. We wish Grace all the best at the National Championships later this term.
Secondary results
Danielle Allen (Yr 11) finished runner-up in the State and made the Queensland team, as did Lauren Fitzpatrick (Yr 12) who finished 4th in the Open Girls division.
Brigitte Fischer (Yr 10) battled through illness to finish 7th and also gain selection in the Queensland team for the National Titles, a feat also achieved by Sam Allen (Yr 8) and the Captain of Cross Country Annelise Jefferies (Yr 12).
Other Flinders students to contest the State titles were Jaiden Sells (Yr 10) 15th, Ella Jones (Yr 8) 45th and Zac Threadgold (Yr 10) 45th.
