Ironwoman Danielle steeled for study

She is the 2011 Dux of Matthew Flinders Anglican College, is one of the country's top ironwomen and has landed a coveted spot at the University of Sydney's medical school.
Danielle Allen is not this year's Young Australian of the Year, but she sure is special.
This month she heads off to Sydney to begin a dual Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree.
Only 10 people nationwide were selected to do the degree this year, and Danielle will have to devote seven years of her life to the university if she is to emerge an MD. Ultimately, she wants to be a neurosurgeon.

Danielle philosophical despite injury

Danielle Allen is facing the next six months recuperating after undergoing surgery to an injured left foot sustained during the fourth round of the Ironwomen series at Perth.
Up until then the 17-year-old Flinders graduate had been enjoying a stellar season after battling her way into fourth spot on the points tally. Although her wildest dreams of a podium finish were whisked away just when they were within arm's reach, Danielle is taking a philosophical approach.
