Musical excellence continues to flourish at Matthew Flinders Anglican College with an outstanding display at this year’s Sunshine Coast Junior Eisteddfod.
A showcase of superb entertainment and talent from many schools across the Sunshine Coast converged on centre stage at the Nambour Civic Centre. The annual event attracted a record of more than 4500 musicians this year.
The outstanding performances of several hundred students from Matthew Flinders Anglican College strengthened and reinforced the College’s mighty tradition of musical excellence.
Flinders String Orchestra, Stage Band, Wind Symphony and Flinders Band were all champions in their divisions. This amazing effort was completed by Flinders students winning both the Junior and Senior Brass & Woodwind Championships in their section of the eisteddfod.
The performances of the Flinders' musicians were rewarded by the adjudicators' glowing comments: “Absolutely riveting performance …professional presentation”.
Flinders has always been home to a growing group of talented and enthusiastic musicians.
Under the guidance of Head of Music, Mr Nick Campbell, and his accomplished team of music maestros, the College's music program is producing many inspirational musicians who are destined to take the step from performing locally to the national or even international stage.
