Gemma fights poverty through education

Matthew Flinders Anglican College is proud to host an evening with Gemma Sisia, a great Australian who is fighting poverty in Tanzania through education.
The Flinders community and associates of the late Dr June Canavan are invited to meet Gemma on Tuesday, February 23, at the Flinders Drama Theatre.
Seven years ago, Gemma, from Armidale, vowed to "Fight Poverty through Education" and so began a life-time mission to build the School of St Jude in Arusha, Tanzania.
Made famous by the ABC’s Australian Story, Gemma now educates 1500 Tanzanian children who have no electricity, live in mud or manure–made huts, and sleep on the earthen floor. What’s more she promises them a university education!
Gemma is now three years away from finishing all capital works, which will see two primary school campuses, a secondary school and a boarding college serve these beautiful children.
Gemma will share her remarkable story of vision, tenacity and service on February 23 at 6.30pm in the Flinders Drama Theatre. This is a rare opportunity for the whole family to hear firsthand from a remarkable Australian.
Please email Bernie Kelly, who will chair the evening, on bernie@ylead.com.au to register your attendance.
