Scholarships Program

Matthew Flinders Anglican College is committed to providing a wide range of learning opportunities across all areas of the curriculum and to nurturing individual student’s talents and interests. As part of this commitment, the College offers Academic, General Excellence and Performance Scholarships for students with special talents who, in turn, will make a significant contribution to the life of the College.

The scholarships, remitting 50% of tuition fees, are offered to students entering Years 7-12. The scholarship will be awarded for the duration of the student’s Secondary schooling, and will be subject to an annual review.

Scholarship applications for entry in 2013 have now closed. Applications for 2014 will be accepted online in Term 4 this year.

Academic

Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic ability. Applicants are required to take part in the scholastic aptitude tests conducted by EduTest Pty Ltd at the College on a date to be advised. Short-listed applicants and their parents will be invited to attend an interview with the Principal.

General Excellence

Applicants must demonstrate strong academic ability and provide evidence of leadership and/or service to the community.  Additionally, candidates must demonstrate significant achievement in at least TWO of the following areas: chess, debating, music, oratory/public speaking, performing arts, sport or visual arts. Applicants are required to take part in the scholastic aptitude tests conducted by EduTest Pty Ltd at the College on a date to be advised. Short-listed applicants and their parents will be invited to attend an interview with the Principal.

Performance – Co-Curricular

Applicants must demonstrate academic ability along with outstanding performance in one of the following College co-curricular areas: chess, debating, oratory/public speaking, performing arts, sport or visual arts. Applicants are also to show evidence of broad involvement across school life. Short-listed applicants and their parents will be invited to attend an interview with the Principal.

Performance - Music

Applicants must demonstrate outstanding musical ability. Scholarships are offered on the basis of an audition and a subsequent interview with the Principal. Auditions will be held at the College on a date to be advised. Contact the Music Department on 5477 3258 for further information.

The Principal’s Scholarship

In order to assist external students to attend Matthew Flinders Anglican College, The Principal’s Scholarship, offering full remission of tuition fees, is offered to outstanding students not currently enrolled at the College.
