Senior Secondary Academic Program
Years 10-12
Flinders believes that young people should receive a broad general education, even in the senior years, and that only in exceptional circumstances should students choose subjects which will limit their career options. This is in harmony with both government policy directives and expert opinion on the nature of work in the next few decades. It is now generally accepted that our young people need to be multi-skilled, versatile, articulate and ready to move into jobs which, at the moment, do not exist.
While a significant number of our students will continue their education at university, we also recognise that we need to serve, as far as possible, the needs of those who will enter the workforce after Year 12, or who may enrol at a TAFE College for a more skill-based education.

Years 11 and 12 Subjects offered: Authority Subjects
Authority Subjects are those which satisfy the requirements of a syllabus provided by the Queensland Studies Authority (QSA). Assessment in these subjects has to be in accordance with accredited work programs and is moderated by the QSA.
Results obtained in Authority subjects are shown on the Senior Certificate issued at the end of Year 12, and are the only results which contribute to the calculation of a student's Overall Position (OP) which is generally required for tertiary entrance. All of our courses are Authority Subjects with the exception of Industrial Skills, which is an Authority Registered subject not included in the calculation of OPs.
