Equestrian

Teams

Highlights include individual riders excelling in their chosen disciplines, with many qualifying for national championship events and the annual Charity Showjumping Day.

Competitions

All year with selected events contested on individual and team basis: includes many of the major interschool events in Brisbane in Terms 1-3, and the local and State show circuit and State and National Titles.  Interest is developing among riders to form teams to compete in QIESA Dressage and Showman events in 2011.

Recent Successes

Since 2005, Matthew Flinders Anglican College’s Equestrian Group and Buderim Pony Club invite riders from schools near and far to participate in the “Schools’ Challenge’ Open Show Jumping Competition at Nambour Showground. In 2010, the sixth event to be hosted by Flinders and the Buderim Pony Club raised a record $10,000 for the Sunshine Coast Children’s Therapy Centre, a local charity which students from Matthew Flinders Anglican College have supported for many years.

Ruby Baxter, Grace Baxter, Sarah Ryan and Samantha Swaine, picutred above, qualified for the National Showman Championships in 2011.
