Champion Basketball School of Queensland Tournament

Our 1st V Basketball men’s team represented Flinders with pride over the September holidays. For the first time, the team qualified for Division 1 of the Champion Basketball School of Queensland Tournament, and the boys were well prepared for the challenge.

Ending up on the tough end of the draw, our boys were struck with a very challenging first two days facing previous first and third place getters.

Every game was fought with strength and perseverance; although they missed the win in the first three games, the team earned a fabulous reputation, not to be forgotten!

Under the leadership of Coach Best, our stars battled well played, fair games. Great sportsmanship and terrific skills were always on display, including Max Q’s outstanding stick-back dunk.

Despite not making the finals after a fantastic demonstration of talent and spectacular moves, the boys rallied together and kept playing all remaining matches as if they were fighting for gold. In three matches they scored a whopping 297 points against 132 from their opponents.

The Flinders community is very proud of the outstanding achievement from the team. The stats they made are nothing short of remarkable. Sheldon W (12 Ch) was the top scorer of the whole competition with 171 points and Bede H (11 Br) was second with 154 points.

They played hard, fought hard and walked away with their heads held high.

Well done boys!
