Basketball is one of the most popular sports at Matthew Flinders Anglican College, with approximately 15 secondary teams and 4 primary teams representing the College each year.
Primary boys and girls teams compete at the SCISSA competition at Year 4–5 and Year 5–6 levels.
Boys in Secondary teams compete at under 13, under 15 and under 18 years old and girls in Secondary teams compete at A, B or C Grade.
Flinders basketball teams play in the Sunshine Coast Inter-school Basketball Competition. This competition is traditionally played Friday afternoons/evenings during terms 3 and 4 against Independent, Catholic and government schools in the region. 18A boys and girls also compete in the Champion Basketball School of Queensland (CBSQ) tournament in Brisbane each September.
Primary boys teams compete during Terms 1 and 2 in the inter-school competition. The inter-school primary girls compete in Terms 3 and 4.
Training sessions take place on the College basketball courts. Training sessions are held either before school or after school.
SCISSA training is held at lunchtime on Mondays during the season.
Flinders Basketball Club
Flinders Basketball Club has teams playing basketball throughout the year (all terms) as part of the Suncoast Clippers Basketball club Competition, with a separate Schools competition running in Term 3 and is open to all high school students. Students have the flexibility to play per term or all year.
Games are played at the Suncoast Clippers Basketball courts on Elizabeth Daniels Way in Buderim with training at the Flinders Sports Centre between 3.30pm – 4.30pm:

Games played on a Wednesday:
Boys – U12 and U14
Training is on a Tuesday for all age groups.
