Aiming to build a better Flinders community through supporting the Music Program

The Matthew Flinders Anglican College Parents and Friends Association is a group of committed parents, volunteers and friends who work hard to maintain and develop the great sense of community at Flinders. They also assist the College, through their fundraising efforts to provide a safe, healthy and most up-to-date educational facility for our children.

Within the P & F Association are a number of groups of parents who support specific areas of interest. The Flinders Friends of Music supporters are a dedicated and enthusiastic group that exists to foster and promote excellence in music through support of the Matthew Flinders Anglican College Music Department. Friends of Music assist both in providing students with opportunities for music performance and raising funds to purchase music and equipment.

Our Mission

To foster and promote excellence in music through support of the Matthew Flinders Anglican College Music Department.

Our Objectives:

1.     To develop a partnership with the Music Department to support their endeavours by:
a)      Providing practical support for the presentation of music events
b)      Fundraising
c)      Creating public awareness

2. To support and promote student music activities.

3. To promote the intrinsic value of music within the community.

Friends of Music Meetings

The Flinders Friends of Music group meet informally several times per year (usually 2-3 times per term) prior to major events in the music calendar.  Attendance is encouraged but not essential and minutes are available to all members after each meeting via the MyFlinders Friends of Music group.  Our meetings are held in the Music Department (H Block on the Secondary campus) and have a social emphasis with refreshments provided.  We look forward to welcoming you to our friendly group.

Each year an Executive Committee is elected at an Annual General Meeting. Nominations are sought for the positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and general committee members.  Please contact the Music Department on 5477 3258 if you are interested in finding out more about the AGM and the nomination process.
