Netball is a prominent sport within the College. Matthew Flinders Anglican College is a powerhouse school within Queensland for netball. Flinders has achieved great success at state-wide carnivals, with many players gaining state selection.
There are many College teams available for the girls to play in. In the Secondary School there is Junior (Years 7 and 8), Intermediate (Years 9 and 10), Senior (Years 11 and 12) and Firsts (open).
There is also a Flinders Netball Club available for girls of all ages.
There are multiple primary SCISSA teams for Years 4, 5 and 6.
Flinders Netball Club caters for teams at the Fishermans Rd Complex each weekend throughout winter.
Training for secondary girls is held on Thursday afternoon or before school or lunches by team arrangement.
SCISSA netball teams train during Monday lunch times during semester 1.
Flinders Netball Club teams train Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons, depending on which team players are selected in.
Flinders Netball Club
Flinders Netball Club is a non-for-profit sub entity of the Matthew Flinders Anglican College Parents and Friends Association based at Matthew Flinders Anglican College and is operated under the “Matthew Flinders Anglican College P&F Association Guidelines for the Establishment and Operation of Flinders Activity Clubs” and the “Flinders Sports Clubs – Guidelines for Parents, Players, Officials & Supporters”. The Club is affiliated with the Sunshine Coast Netball Association and all paid members are also affiliated with Netball Queensland.
The Flinders Netball Club aims to foster and encourage the skills of anyone who wants to learn about netball – playing, coaching, umpiring or supporting – while getting fit and having fun.
We compete in the outdoor netball competition run by the Sunshine Coast Netball Association at the Fisherman’s Road Sporting Complex, Maroochydore, on a Saturday morning.
