• Soccer Practise at Matthew Flinders Anglican College

Soccer is rapidly growing in popularity at Matthew Flinders Anglican College, as a flow-on effect of the Flinders Football Club’s foundation a few years ago, along with the development of SCISSA Secondary soccer competitions for boys and girls of a Wednesday afternoon.

Primary teams compete in SCISSA competitions at Years 4–5 and Year 6 for Boys Term 1 and Girls Years 4–5 and Years 5–6 during semester 2.

There are District, State and National representative pathways through the school competition for under 12s, under 15s and under 18s.

Flinders Football Club competes in a weekend competition (up to 13 years of age) – more information below.

Flinders Football Club

Flinders Football Club is a small, friendly soccer Club that has proved to be a wonderful environment in which to nurture and improve children’s football skills and enjoyment of the game. We welcome players from Matthew Flinders Anglican College as well as players from the wider community. Our key aim is to encourage players of all abilities to participate. Our belief is that every child deserves to play and have fun.

Through our association with Sunshine Coast Football, our teams compete in matches against teams from other football clubs across the Sunshine Coast. Matches are generally played on Saturdays with two half-day carnivals for each age group during the season.

Flinders Football Club participates in the ‘MiniRoos’ football (soccer) competition through Sunshine Coast Football. MiniRoos players are children turning 5 to 11 in a calendar year. MiniRoos is a smaller version of football that provides boys and girls with a fun introduction to the game. It is designed for kids, with the emphasis on having fun, playing with friends & learning new skills.

We have recently aligned our Club with Kawana Football Club. This is an exciting development and will provide our players wanting to continue playing beyond Under 11 the opportunity to move to a larger Club and progress their football career as they move into the junior football ranks. Importantly this will offer players the chance to continue playing football with their friends.

Like most amateur sporting groups we rely on the help and support of wonderful parents and other family members/friends to keep our Club running smoothly. If any parents would like to help, even in a small way, we’d love to hear from you.
