Schedule of Fees and Levies for 2017  – Domestic Students

Effective from 1 January 2017.

The Tuition Fee covers most student education cost including tuition, camps, library resources, internet facilities, diaries, locker combination locks and ID cards.

Matthew Flinders Anglican College makes significant investments in providing IT resources to enhance student learning in all curriculum areas and includes a separate levy across all year levels.

Primary students are charged a fixed levy for compulsory excursions and activities. Secondary students are invoiced periodically throughout the year for excursions and activities.

The Tuition Fee does not include the cost of co-curricular activities, optional tours/excursions, individual music tuition or instrument hire and some sporting activities.

Subject Levies

The following subjects attract a levy to cover basic costs and materials. In Years 8 to 10, students select one subject per semester. In Years 11 and 12 students select a subject per annum. Subject levies are invoiced at the commencement of Terms 2 and 4.

Sibling Discount

A sibling discount applies when two or more children from the same family attend the College simultaneously. The discount is 5% for the second child, 10% for the third child, increasing by a further 5% for each additional sibling. This concession is only available to parents not in receipt of any greater concession for a student. Please note this discount is only applicable to Tuition Fees and does not apply to Levies or other charges.

Payment Options

School fees are invoiced quarterly and payable on or before the first day of each Term.

Our preferred payment options are:

ii) MFAC Direct Debit Plan

We are pleased to offer a fortnightly Direct Debit payment option.

iii) Online Payments

Matthew Flinders offers two online payment options:

  • Westpac’s QuickWeb
    QuickWeb accepts payment from your nominated bank account, Mastercard or Visa. Credit card payments attract a 1% surcharge on the total credit card payment amount.

New Enrolments

Registration Fee $200
Paid on application for registration. Includes GST.  Non-refundable.

Confirmation Fee $800
Non-refundable. This fee confirms the enrolment and is payable within 30 days of receiving notification that your enrolment application has been accepted. Payment is to accompany your signed Enrolment Agreement.

Late Payment of Fees

If Tuition Fees and other charges remain unpaid four weeks after the due date, an administrative surcharge of 2.5% of the outstanding balance will be added to your account and any fee concession granted for that term will be withdrawn.

Students may not be allowed to commence a new term whilst all or part of the previous term’s fees remains unpaid.

Withdrawal of Student

One term’s notice in writing to the Principal is required if a student is to be withdrawn from Matthew Flinders Anglican College, otherwise a term’s fees in lieu of notice will be charged.

GST

The supply of an educational course is GST-free. This includes camps, excursions, field trips and course materials, provided the charge directly relates to the College’s curriculum and excludes any food component.

Registration Fee

A Registration Fee of $220 (including GST) must be paid with each application for enrolment. This is not refundable and does not guarantee a place at Matthew Flinders Anglican College.

Confirmation Fee

If the application is approved, an offer of a place is made. Parents must complete and sign an Enrolment Agreement and an Acknowledgement of acceptance of the Uniform Code, Code of Conduct, Refund Policy, Dispute Resolution Policy, and Change of Address Acknowledgement, and pay a Confirmation Fee of $1,000.

Tuition Fees are quoted as an annual amount and are billed, in total, prior to commencement. Thereafter all fees are payable 12 months in advance.

Non-tuition Charges

Non-tuition annual charges for Primary students and Secondary students do not include musical instrument hire, music or marine studies camps, or co-curricular charges, all of which are payable at the Accounts Office by the student at the time the expense is incurred.

Postponement of Enrolment

If parents wish to postpone a student’s date of entry after enrolment has been confirmed, they must give to the Principal notice in writing to that effect. The College will give no guarantee of a place for the proposed new date of entry.

Termination of Enrolment

If a student is to leave the College, then the parents will give the Principal notice in writing to that effect:

  1. not later than the first day of the term at the end of which it is intended that the student should leave, or
  2. if the student is to leave during the term, at least three months prior to the date on which it is intended that the student should leave.

If the parents fail to comply with these requirements then one (1) term’s fees will be charged in lieu of notice. If any of the monies due and payable to the College remain unpaid for a period in excess of six weeks from the due date the Principal may terminate the enrolment.

Overseas Student Health Cover Levy

The Overseas Student Health Cover Levy as required by the Commonwealth Government is payable prior to commencement. The current charge is $372 per annum, subject to change.

QCAA Levy

The charge of $423.40 as required by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority is payable prior to commencement for students completing Years 11 and 12 only. Parents should note that if course fees rise during a student’s course, the increase will only apply from the following billing period. If a student changes visa status (e.g. becomes a temporary or permanent resident) he/she will continue to pay full overseas student fees for the remainder of that term.
