Flinders Aquatic Academy
The Flinders Aquatic Centre is a quality 25-metre, 8-lane heated outdoor squad training pool. It is located beside the Primary School and main Anthony Vincent Oval on-site at Matthew Flinders Anglican College. Flinders students are fortunate to have this impressive facility available to them. Students visit the pool for Health and Physical Education lessons, private lessons, sports training and events such as school carnivals. The Centre features clean, well-maintained change-room facilities and grandstand seating.

Swimming Carnivals

Matthew Flinders Anglican College holds its annual Junior Primary, Senior Primary and Secondary School Swimming Carnivals at the Flinders Aquatic Academy.

Curriculum

The College curriculum has a focus on community safety and includes training in surf lifesaving, aquatic ability and first aid.

Co-curricular

Water Polo is a popular co-curricular sport at Flinders, with training and matches held at the Flinders Aquatic Academy. In 2019, Flinders had six Water Polo teams place in the finals, with four gold medals and two silver medals won.

Flinders Aquatic Academy

Students with a passion for swimming and water sports are supported and challenged to develop strong skills at the Flinders Aquatic Academy. Expert coaches, including Olympic Coach Chris Mooney, guide students through all aspects of athlete long-term development and skill-based swimming. A range of squads are on offer to assist with swim skills training, surf training and to develop fitness. Children of all ages are supported to learn swim skills for life and to further develop and compete at a higher level competition. The USC Spartan Swim Club is an opportunity available to competitive age group swimmers from ages 8 years to 18 years. There is also a learn-to-swim pool and coaching for babies and toddlers, and swim training for school-aged children.
