The Matthew Flinders Foundation is dedicated to fostering a spirit of connection, engagement, and enduring support within the Matthew Flinders Anglican College community.

At the heart of the Foundation lies a deep commitment to philanthropy, an ethos that has enriched our College life through meaningful contributions to academic, cultural and campus initiatives. Our vision is to support the College while engaging the wider community and encouraging philanthropy. The Matthew Flinders Foundation aims to create a sense of belonging amongst parents, students, the staff and stakeholders.

Our mission

The Foundation’s mission is to facilitate the ongoing development of facilities and programs for the long-term benefit of our students.

The Matthew Flinders Foundation supports the College in its efforts to provide:

  • a safe environment and sense of community that is highly valued by our students, parents, teachers and visitors;
  • facilities of the highest quality;
  • student scholarship programs; and
  • outstanding sporting and cultural programs.

The Foundation underpins the student-focused culture and community of Matthew Flinders Anglican College. We look forward to building friends in our community and creating more opportunities for our students for years to come.

The Foundation Board is responsible for managing all funds contributed by donors. These funds are allocated to a range of College projects that directly benefit Flinders students and enhance the opportunities available to them to excel in learning and life. 

History of giving

The Matthew Flinders Foundation has been instrumental in funding and supporting the growth of innovative programs and key infrastructure to enhance our student experience.

The Matthew Flinders Foundation has contributed towards the funding and development of facilities such as: 

  • The Wonderarium (wholly funded by the Matthew Flinders Foundation) - opened in 2021
  • Flinders Performance Centre - opened in 2013
  • Flinders Chapel - opened in 2007

Since 2010, the Matthew Flinders Foundation Scholarship has been awarded annually to a student who does not currently attend the College and is commencing Year 10 or Year 11. The student must exhibit attributes of an outstanding all-round contributor. The Matthew Flinders Foundation Scholarship covers 50% of fee tuition for the The scholarship covers 50% remission of the recipient’s tuition fees.
