Flinders Foundation

CONNECT | ENGAGE | SUPPORT

“On behalf of the Flinders Foundation I would like to welcome new families to Flinders as well as our returning families in 2021.

The Flinders Foundation plays a vital role in funding and supporting the development of significant programs and assets for the benefit of our students such as building projects and scholarships.

The Foundation’s vision is to support the College and to help create a sense of belonging amongst parents, students and staff, whilst engaging the wider community and encouraging philanthropy.

We have a number of exciting events planned for 2021, including our Business Speaker Infrastructure Series showcasing noted speakers from the wider business community. There is also the Flinders Foundation Winemaker’s Dinner in August. This event is a great opportunity to socialise and support our fundraising initiatives that contribute to building projects and scholarships.

In 2021, the Primary School will open the new Wonderarium learning resource centre as a place of Wonder, Curiosity and Creativity. The Wonderarum is wholly funded by the Flinders Foundation for the long-term benefit of students, current and future. Congratulations to our Head of Primary School, Trudi Edwards and Director of Business and Operations, Sharon Verinder, who together with the project steering committee turned this creative and  innovative concept into reality.

The Flinders Foundation is proud to fund this inspiring project.

This is your Flinders Foundation in action for 2021 – Connecting, Engaging and most importantly Supporting our Flinders community.

Mr John Gannon | Flinders Foundation Chair

Matthew Flinders Anglican College is a leading independent Queensland school, teaching Prep to Year 12 in a co-educational, compassionate and naturally beautiful environment. Our students are encouraged to explore, supported to excel and are provided with extraordinary opportunities.

At the heart of the Matthew Flinders Anglican College Foundation’s history is our philanthropic character and we are focused on engaging with our school community to ensure that the College prospers and leads.

The Flinders Foundation plays a vital role in funding and supporting the development of innovative and significant programs and assets for the benefit of students.

The Foundation has contributed $3.4 million towards projects across the College campus such as the Sports Centre, Chapel, Drama Centre, and the $13 million Flinders Performance Centre, which is an innovative venue utilised by the Sunshine Coast community.

The Foundation supports the College in its efforts to provide:

  • a safe environment and sense of community that is highly valued by our students, parents, teachers and visitors;
  • facilities of the highest quality;
  • student scholarship programs; and
  • outstanding sporting and cultural programs.

The Foundation underpins the student-focused culture and community of Matthew Flinders Anglican College. We look forward to building friends in our community and creating more opportunities for our students for years to come.
