Students at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on the Sunshine Coast have excelled in the 2025 NAPLAN assessments, achieving results well above Queensland averages in every domain amid a broader state and national trend of stagnation and declining metrics.
Flinders has continued to exceed national and state benchmarks, with 2025 cohorts in both the Primary School (Year 3 and Year 5) and Secondary School (Year 7 and Year 9) posting scores well above the Queensland average across all five NAPLAN domains (Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation, Numeracy).

For example, close to 95% of Years 7 and 9 students at Flinders achieved either “Strong” or “Exceeding” for their Numeracy proficiency.
Principal Michelle Carroll said the College was proud to offer its students from Prep through Year 12 a quality education for excellence in learning and life.
“Our College’s outstanding 2025 NAPLAN results highlight our continued dedication to mastery of teaching and learning at Flinders,” Ms Carroll said.
“Our College vision is to promote exceptional scholarship, wellbeing and a culture of deep learning and engagement for our students to thrive, and our staff at Flinders is resolute in their commitment to achieving this, day in and day out.”
“These outcomes affirm the power of our bespoke Flinders Teaching and Learning Framework and Wellbeing Framework—built on the Science of Learning and supported by explicit teaching models that foster deep literacy and numeracy skills in every learner.”
The College is widely recognised as the top-performing school on the Sunshine Coast, and one of the top 30 in Queensland for its academic results in recent independent rankings.
