Just when summer holidays feel like a distant memory, Matthew Flinders Anglican College invites you to escape to the sun-soaked island of Skopelos, Greece with “Mamma Mia!: The Musical” from Thursday, 26 to Saturday, 28 February in the Flinders Performance Centre.
Tickets are on sale for this feel-good Broadway favourite presented by our Flinders Dramatic Arts Department over three evening shows and a Saturday matinee.
A talented cast and crew of 93 Flinders students from Years 6 to 12 will showcase their skills and growth as actors, dancers, vocalists and technicians behind the scenes, bringing to life standout ABBA numbers including “Dancing Queen”, “Take a Chance on Me” and “The Winner Takes It All”.
Over the past three months of rehearsals, the students have been expertly guided by the Director of Dramatic Arts, Mr Andy Fraser, and the expert Creative Team across Lighting and Sound, Set Design, Stage Design and Stage Management.
The musical score is provided by the Musical Band, formed especially for this production and featuring seven of our high-performing musicians mentored by the Director of Music, Ms Sally McHugh, while the dance numbers were choreographed by Miss Amy Cahill.
Students also received guest mentoring from Sophia Drakos, Costume Designer of Brisbane Arts Theatre, and Lucy Fraser, Choreographer.
The musical is one of the longest‑running shows in West End history and enjoyed a hugely successful Broadway run as well as spawning two blockbuster films.
