Visual Artists Awarded Across Flinders Primary and Secondary Schools

Flinders students from across our Primary and Secondary Schools have recently been recognised in industry awards and had their artworks selected for prestigious regional and international exhibitions.

At Flinders, Visual Art lessons are provided as core subjects throughout Primary School and also in Year 7. Art is then offered as an elective from Year 8 through to Year 12, with a strong cohort continuing into the senior years.

The College’s new Infinity Centre art studios and gallery spaces are inspiring environments to create art and showcase their work to the College and wider community.

Exhibiting at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre

Nine of our Secondary School artists recently featured at the Cooroy Butter Factory, which hosted two outstanding regional exhibitions side by side. Secondary Head of Visual Art, Mrs Ros Braithwaite, has championed students’ participation in regional and state-wide exhibitions for many years, encouraging young artists to step into the spotlight and share their work with the wider community.

Creative Generation Exhibition

Celebrating the next generation of creative voices, this exhibition featured high-quality, multimedia works from standout artists in Years 11 and 12 across the region.

Congratulations to Giselle G, Eszter K, Sophia W and Autumn-lily W who were invited to exhibit alongside such talented developing artists.

Start-Up Student Art Prize (Sponsored by ArtsNational Noosa)

Five of our student artists successfully submitted their artworks for this regional showcase highlighting exceptional new work for sale from Years 10 to 12. Congratulations to Rose H, Eamon G, Sienna T, Amelia P and Holly H for having the confidence to enter this esteemed prize and for being selected for their impressive works.

International Round Square Art Award

Primary student Danielle L in Year 5 was awarded 1st place at the Round Square International Conference! Competing against over 650 global entries, Danielle was one of the only Australian award winners. She was presented with her certificate and a special piece of Indigenous artwork at a Year 5 assembly this term.

Student Dedication and Development

Over the past 12 months, Year 11 student Eamon G has shown incredible dedication to improving his skills and mastering landscape painting in oils. Mrs Braithwaite noted that Eamon has been a constant presence in the Art Department, spending countless hours outside of class honing his craft.

“Guided by the continuous support of his teacher, Mrs Kristine Forrest, and an inspiring workshop with renowned artist Don Milner, Eamon’s skills have truly blossomed,” said Mrs Braithwaite.

"It’s also no surprise Eamon has built such a dedicated following across the Flinders community. His group of friends is always cheering him on and watching his progress. We can't wait to see where his creativity and passion take him as he steps into his final year of Senior Visual Art and beyond."

Congratulations to each of these students for sharing their creativity with our community and representing the College with distinction.
