As part of this commitment, the College offers scholarships for students with special talents who, in turn, will make a significant contribution to the life of the College.
The scholarships, remitting up to 50% of tuition fees, are offered to students entering Years 7–12. The Principal’s Scholarship, offering full remission of tuition fees, is offered to outstanding students not currently enrolled at the College.


Applications for the Academic, General Excellence and Principal's Scholarships close Monday, 16 February 2026. No late applications will be accepted. The selection of scholarship recipients will be determined through a College-administered process. Scholarships will be offered for the duration of the student’s Secondary schooling (subject to annual review).

Academic Scholarship
Academic Scholarships, remitting up to 50% of tuition fees*, are offered to students entering Years 7-12. Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic ability as determined by performance on the scholarship exam, academic reports and interview.

Applicants for the Academic Scholarship must demonstrate outstanding academic ability.
The scholarship, offering up to 50% remission of tuition fees*, will be awarded for the duration of the student’s Secondary schooling, and will be subject to an annual review.
Please note that at the time of online registration, the following documents will need to be uploaded:
- Most recent school reports;
- Most recent NAPLAN result;
- Supporting documentation pertaining to the applicant's academic ability (i.e. results of any standardised testing such as ICAS or intelligence tests such as WISC), if available.
All scholarship applicants are required to sit the scholarship examination at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on Saturday, 21 February 2026 from 8:20am-12:30pm, QLD time.
(Overseas or distance applicants may be able to sit the exam remotely - please apply using the appropriate links by Friday 6 February 2026)
Please note: If the student is unable to attend the scholarship examination on the above date, please contact our Admissions Team on (07) 5477 3260 or admissions@mfac.edu.au at least two weeks before the closing date. Alternative testing/remote testing arrangements may be allowed, in exceptional circumstances only.
Short-listed applicants and their parents will be invited to attend an interview with the Principal. Scholarship recipients will be announced in April/May following this process.

General Excellence
General Excellence Scholarships, remitting up to 50% of tuition fees*, are offered to students entering Years 7-12. Applicants must demonstrate excellence across three areas: strong academic ability (as opposed to the requirement of 'outstanding' academic ability for an Academic Scholarship), leadership and/or service to the community, and significant achievement in ONE of the following: Music, Sport or The Arts. Applicants are required to sit the scholarship exam and must first apply for the Academic Scholarship.

General Excellence Scholarships, remitting up to 50% of tuition fees*, are offered to students entering Years 7-12. Applicants must demonstrate excellence across three areas: strong academic ability (as opposed to the requirement of outstanding academic ability for Academic), leadership and/or service to the community, and significant achievement in ONE of the following: Music, Sport or The Arts.
The scholarship will be awarded for the duration of the student’s Secondary schooling and will be subject to an annual review.
In addition, the following documents need to be uploaded at the time of online registration:
- Supporting documentation for the applicant’s areas of excellence including levels of achievement, e.g. Regional, State or National level for sport, or the equivalent level of participation or competition in the areas listed above;
- Two references relevant to the areas of excellence including the contact details of the referees.
All scholarship applicants are required to sit the scholarship examination at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on Saturday, 21 February 2026 from 8:20am-12:30pm, QLD time.

The Principal’s Scholarship
The Principal’s Scholarship, offering full remission of tuition fees*, is offered to an outstanding student not currently enrolled at the College. The recipient will be selected, at the Principal’s discretion, from the following scholarship categories: Academic or General Excellence.
*Note: Open to new students only – means tested. Full fee paying overseas students are not eligible to apply for the Principal's Scholarship.

The Principal’s Scholarship also covers the Textbook and Resource Levy, Technology Levy and Mobile Device Fee but excludes other charges, for example, subject levies, optional tours, excursions and sports/music fees. The scholarship will be awarded for the duration of the student’s Secondary schooling, and will be subject to an annual review.
To apply, the applicant must:
- Be an external student not currently enrolled at Matthew Flinders Anglican College, and who, due to financial constraints, would not normally be able to consider a Flinders education.
- The applicant’s family must be prepared to complete a financial statement. This will include disclosure, in strict confidence, of the family’s financial situation.
- The applicant must apply online for Academic and/or General Excellence scholarships; and submit a short hand-written essay outlining why he/she would like to come to Flinders.
Short-listed applicants and their parents will be invited to attend an interview with the Principal.

Matthew Flinders Foundation Scholarship
The Foundation Scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding student not currently enrolled at Matthew Flinders Anglican College, and will cover a minimum of 50% remission of the recipient’s tuition fees for up to a three-year period, subject to an annual review of his/her academic progress and overall contribution to the life of the College.
The Principal may nominate a suitable applicant, from the existing scholarship applicant pool, to be interviewed for the Foundation Scholarship at the approval of the Foundation Board interview panel.

First Nations Scholarship
Flinders First Nations Scholarships, remitting 100% of tuition fees*, will be offered in 2025 to new First Nations students entering Years 9 or 10 who exhibit the attributes of an outstanding all-round contributor, including strong academic performance, involvement in community service and leadership potential.
Completed applications and supporting documents are required to be emailed to our Admissions team.

Can I submit a late scholarship application?
Scholarships are open from January to February each year for Academic and General Excellence Scholarships. Applications for Music and Sport Scholarships open in July and close in August. The College believes that the process is fair for all and the open period enables all applicants during that period the chance to put their best claim forward. Scholarships are highly sought after and the College acknowledges the process enables equitable consideration of candidates. Due to the integrity of the scholarships process, the College is unable to offer any special considerations.
When will scholarship winners be announced?
Applicants who are shortlisted for the Academic and General Excellence Scholarships will be invited to attend an interview with the Principal in Term 1. Short-listed applicants for the Music and Sport Scholarships will be invited to attend an interview with the Principal in Term 3.

Do I need to submit a folio?
Yes, we require applicants to upload their scholarship paperwork during the application process. Please take note of closing dates on the website. No late applications will be accepted.
How much does it cost to apply?
All applicants for Academic and General Excellence Scholarships will pay only the one fee, $125, for the scholarship exam. The cost to apply for the Music and Sport Scholarships is $50.
When is the Scholarship testing?
Scholarship testing will take place on Saturday, 21 February 2026 at Matthew Flinders Anglican College.
