Flinders 2022 Art Exhibition Opens, 26 October to 2 November

Arts appreciators from across the Sunshine Coast are invited to Matthew Flinders Anglican College to view the 2022 Flinders Art Exhibition, opening on Wednesday, 26 October in the Flinders Performance Centre.

This is the 28th year for the College’s annual exhibition, open from Wednesday, 26 October to Wednesday, 2 November from 8:00am to 4:30pm.

The exhibition features artworks created by Flinders students from Prep through to Year 12.

Flinders’ Head of Art in the Secondary School, Mrs Ros Braithwaite said the event was an opportunity to see the effort and creativity students have contributed to their art practice in class and at home this year.

The works span a variety of approaches and materials from sketching, paintings, sculptures and printmaking, to digital media and animation.

There are also two special events included as part of the exhibition.

The Flinders Visual Art Department will host an opening event just for the College’s Senior School Art students in Years 10 to 12 and their families to celebrate the students’ art development.

And, as a new offering this year, visitors are invited to join our Head of Primary Art, Mrs Emma Ferris at the exhibition from 3:30pm - 4:30pm on Thursday, 27 October to learn more about the Flinders Primary Art program and how it supports students to develop art skills and explore their innate creativity.

Visual Art is an important part of the curriculum at Matthew Flinders Anglican College. Art lessons are provided as core subjects in Primary School and in Middle School from Prep to Year 9, and thereafter as electives in Senior School from Years 10 to 12.
