Our Year 6 students were VERY excited to gather this morning for the 'big reveal' to learn which musical production they will produce as part of their year-long music project at Matthew Flinders Anglican College.
At the beginning of each year, Flinders Head of Music (Primary) Mrs Lenora Phillips provides cryptic clues for our Year 6 students to problem solve and guess the musical they will present as a cohort over an intensive six-month production journey.
This year, Mrs Phillip's image clues included books, a brain, an elephant, an egg, a cat, a hat…you guessed it, Flinders Primary is putting on a Seussical Musical!
Children and adults alike love the stories of Dr. Seuss; we have grown up with these loveable and quirky characters entertaining and inspiring us with their life lessons.
Now the Flinders Year 6 cohort will get to put their unique spin on it with the Flinders Seussical Jr production presented in Term 3 on Wednesday, 31 August and Thursday, 1 September in our Flinders Performance Centre.
Auditions will be held in Week 6, Term 1, with all Year 6 students participating in a singing and acting audition during their Music Lesson class time.
The annual production is a positive and rewarding journey which aims to encourage every child to find their talents, step beyond their comfort zone, and build confidence and skills.
Year 6 productions at Flinders also enable students to build strong bonds in their final year of Primary School before transitioning together to Flinders Secondary School in Year 7.
