Flinders Youth Theatre Presents 'Going for Gold' from 29-30 October

Tickets are on sale for Going for Gold, proudly presented by the Flinders Youth Theatre from 5:30pm on Thursday, 29 October and Friday, 30 October in the Drama Theatre at Matthew Flinders Anglican College.

This vibrant new short play with songs will be brought to life by 32 of our budding performers in Years 5 and 6 as a Dinner Theatre experience. Sit back and enjoy a classic Aussie pub “parmie” served right alongside a dish of comedic mishap!

The scene is set inside a lively restaurant hosting an Olympic watch party, transporting the audience back to the excitement of the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Everyone is buzzing with anticipation for Cathy Freeman’s legendary 400m gold medal run.

The big screen is ready, the crowd is hyped and suddenly...disaster strikes! The TV signal goes completely black.

Will the signal be restored in time for the big race?

Can we count on the unfortunate TV repairman?

Who will save the day? The eccentric chef? The daredevil acrobats? Or someone unexpected…

Thankfully, there is a colourful cast of characters determined to keep the crowd entertained through the magic of song and dance.

The Youth Theatre program provides Flinders Senior Primary students the opportunity to immerse themselves in theatre development throughout the school year, building skills and confidence in preparation for their involvement in Secondary productions.

Students meet every Wednesday morning to learn acting, dancing and singing skills through fun games, guided by our Director of Dramatic Arts, Mr Andy Fraser, and Co-ordinator of Dramatic Arts, Miss Sarah Sullivan.
