Music appreciators are invited to join us for Soirée in the Performance Centre at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on Friday, 23 October from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
The concert is presented by 100 of our talented music students across the Primary and Secondary Schools and features the Brass Ensemble, Flinders Voices, Jazz Band/Stage Band, Lumina Voices, String Trio, String Quartet and Vivace, along with select Flinders Music Scholars.

Ms Caroline McHugh, Co-ordinator of Vocal Performance & Choirs, said, “Guests will experience a wonderful variety of repertoire across the concert, including jazz, pop, rock, music theatre, folk and classical music.
“We will also have the debut performance of our new electric string quartet, which is very exciting, with students performing on electric string instruments,” Ms McHugh said.
“Students have been rehearsing each week in their regular ensemble rehearsals, developing their skills and working together in preparation for performances throughout the year. The Soirée provides a wonderful opportunity for them to showcase that ongoing development and the work they have put into their music across the year.”

Music students at Flinders are supported by a team of expert staff who conduct and teach the ensembles, including the following:

Vivace Strings – conducted by Mrs Bron Oswell
Lumina Voices – conducted by Ms Caroline McHugh and accompanied by Mrs Wanyu Lin

Soiree will also feature a wonderfully talented group of Flinders Music Scholars performing throughout the evening, including:

Seating and Catering Options
The Soirée will be held in the Performance Centre with a relaxed and inviting twist. Rather than the traditional tiered seating, the seating bank will be retracted, creating an open space where audience members can bring picnic blankets and cushions to sit on the carpeted floor and enjoy the evening in relaxed comfort.
For those who prefer a more structured setting, a limited number of tables are available for hire. These will be positioned at the back of the picnic-style seating area. It is possible to book a whole table (8 guests) to share with family and friends.
Flinders Music has partnered with catering company Thistle in the Woods to fundraise for the Music Department and take your experience to the next level!
