Making the Most of Senior School (Years 10-12)

Matthew Flinders Anglican College is hosting a community information event for families wanting to learn how to get the most out of Senior School from Years 10 to 12.

Join us on Thursday, 9 May from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in our new masterplanned Infinity Centre.

Find out why it’s vital to develop our young people as thriving learners and leaders with the confidence and capacity to positively impact the world and explore a life of meaning and purpose.

Join the Flinders Head of Secondary School, Mrs Anita Gibson for a welcome presentation and learn the benefits of senior schooling at Flinders. Explore how students are supported to:

  • pursue academic goals
  • strive for excellence in learning and life
  • embrace enrichment opportunities, and
  • integrate the latest technology to boost their deep learning and engagement.

Guests will have the opportunity to break into small groups to meet the Flinders Leadership and Teaching Teams to explore opportunities, subjects and programs of interest:

    Discover the value of wellbeing initiatives and enrichment programs across academics, music and sport.
  • Explore why quality teaching matters | Head of Innovation and Learning, Mr Ed Wright
    Learn about our exceptional professional learning program which supports our teachers to grow their expertise and positively impact student outcomes.
  • Understand ATAR and subject selections | Head of Studies, Mr Gary Davis
    Learn how to better understand ATAR scalings and support your child to make informed choices about their subject selections aligned to their strengths, passions and career aspirations.
  • Consider career pathways | Careers Advisor, Ms Kathryn Rooke-Jones
    Learn about upcoming career events, traineeships and apprenticeships, work experience, tertiary courses, and much more.
  • Explore a diverse co-curricular life | Head of Sport, Mr Adam Ridgewell and Director of Music, Mr Nick Campbell
    Find out how students can embrace diverse co-curricular opportunities for a healthy and balanced school life across music, sport, dramatic arts, community service, Round Square global exchanges and service learning, and outdoor education.

The event will conclude with a panel discussion will feature guest speakers sharing personal stories and reflecting on their senior schooling journeys as well as responding to questions.
