Old Flinderian Rachael Twiggs Returns to Flinders as a Music Teacher

Rachael Twiggs graduated from Matthew Flinders Anglican College in 2015. This year, Rachael returned to the College - not just for a visit but to teach music! We are thrilled to have her join our staff team and know that her students will benefit from her incredible energy, passion for music and love for teaching and guiding young people. We asked her to reflect upon her time after graduation.

Q: What does life look like for you now?
Rachael: I am a full-time curriculum music teacher back at Matthew Flinders Anglican College!

Q: What was your favourite Flinders moment?
Rachael: There were so many! But I definitely enjoyed being a member of all music ensembles and performing amazing music with my friends and teachers at Flinders.

Q: Do you have a particular role model or inspirational figure from Flinders or beyond?
Rachael: All the music staff were so supportive: they inspired me to pursue music and teaching after school.

Q: How straight-forward was it to decide your path after graduating from Flinders?
Rachael: In Year 11, I was pretty determined to become a music teacher and inspire kids to pursue their music goals.

Q: Did your further study go as planned?
Rachael: Yes, it definitely went according to plan! I was fortunate enough to study at the University of Queensland and learned so much about education and music. From this experience, I have been incredibly fortunate to return to Flinders as a music teacher, and look forward to the journey ahead.

Q: What advice do you have for current students?
Rachael: Keep working hard and follow your passion.

Welcome to the Flinders staff team, Rachael!
