Year 8 IDEAS 3: Plug In & Power Up

Step into the role of being an innovator, tackling real-world challenges inspired by the United Nations Sustainability Goal: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. Explore how technology and design can be used to create an innovative and personalised charging station for a business.

Students develop their skills by completing projects such as a 3D-printed golf tee, fidget toy, laser-cut drink coaster, and timber towel holder, leading up to the creation of their own wireless phone charger.

The course incorporates the foundation for future studies in Digital and Design Technologies. Specialist technologies include:

  • Computer-aided design programs
  • Textile technologies
  • Manufacturing technologies
  • Electronics
  • Virtual Reality
  • Material technologies
