Year 7 Drama

Year 7 students explore ways of telling stories through drama that is visually creative, imaginative and engaging. In this unit, students workshop the elements of drama and acting skills to develop skills and understanding of the manipulation of voice, movement, space, ensemble and stagecraft. They apply the dramatic conventions of Visual Theatre (which may include physical theatre, freeze frames, symbols, use of fabric, theatre toys, puppetry, shadow work, interaction with media or technical aspects) and improvisation to re-imagine a Dreaming story from First Nations Australians. They rehearse performance skills and apply design elements to shape and focus theatrical effect for an audience. Learning in Drama engages students actively, imaginatively and collaboratively, promoting personal and social understanding, critical and creative thinking, confidence and the enjoyment of learning.
